Having smelly feet is a common medical condition often caused by a build-up of sweat. For example, in some shoes and socks the amount of sweat increases and is prevented from evaporating. This sweat build-up results in bacteria growth on the skin which ultimately causes bad odor.
Hot weather, exercise, being overweight and hormonal changes may increase the amount of sweat. In some cases, smelly feet are due to fungal infections like athlete’s foot. Having smelly feet could be uncomfortable and embarrassing but there are ways to both treat and prevent it.
Smelly feet can usually be improved by good hygiene, but there are also some other ways to stop the bad smell.
